There are not enough foster families in Abilene or the Big Country.
On average 70% of our cities' kids have to leave their hometown when they go into foster care due to the lack of foster families in the 325 area code. This causes additional trauma to the children and makes it more difficult for their parents to work the steps needed to be reunified with their children.
This is a crisis happening in our own backyard.
Our children deserve to have a safe place to live while their parents are working to heal and recover, but the need is far too great for one church or organization to meet. However, if we come together as a community we would have more than enough loving homes for all our kids in the Big Country and the 325 area.
